Mike McArdle and I went to high school together; we had loads of fun in class with our wacky art teacher Mrs.Collins and by our second year(s) we were basically left to ourselves to do "our thing". Mike was wildly talented even then; he is ridiculously talented now and has an immeasurable range. He is doing some amazing work on custom cars and bikes - he has and does amazing mural work, oil paintings and he did a lot of years painting designs on surfboards (turns out he collaborates often my brother ; a custom bike designer and builder, no small talent himself).
I just ran into Mike the other night at my brother's 50th. We haven't seen each other for many years. It was such a pleasure to talk with him about art. We talked about art school; what he's been up to all these years, what I've gotten myself into over the years. It was so AWESOME, inspiring, and motivating to have such a high energy conversation about the thing we are both crazy passionate about!
Great conversation - great to see you Mike!
One thing we did talk about was The Madrigalli Market Sale - I just thought it would be so great to have him there. I put him in touch with the show people and turns out he's in! How fun is that show going to be!

p.s. a long time ago in a place far far away; I painted cars for car shows; pin striping, airbrushed murals; and signs. I could never even touch Mike's talent and scope! I love his work...

Bloum Cardenas makes these fantastic collage paintings out of recycled plastic bags that she gathers up from all over the world - if you have an opportunity to see these paintings you will see the depth and amazing second life of plastic bags. I LOVE her work and Bloum is a super nice gal. Also a little trivia on Bloum and her family...
introducing The Third Column...
I've seen many blogs with this third column action. I wanted one. So, I went off and tried to figure out how to get me one of those. I found countless sites, countless ways and means, countless tools, tips, widget nonsense, and gadgety bits at my fingertips ready to "help me", "self help me", create my own third column. Riiiighhht, and want to slit my wrists.
I spent more time on this little project than I'm willing to admit. Each site explaining differnt ways to do the same thing. Each 'expert' blogger hacker taunting me about how simple, easy, and fast it is to add a third column - and countless comments saying "OH yes, it's so easy, thank you for your simple explanation", or "WOW, your directions made that SO easy". Ok, OK. I gird myself to take on the HTML. HTML isn't easy. HTML isn't intuitive - it's rigid; like a bread stick. Some instructions didn't work at all, some worked half way, some sent parts sailing off into oblivion.
I did this exercise 6 or 7 fucking times. Nothing. I even lost the blog entirely there for a few frantic moments. That was super fun.

The damn column is stunted, naturally. I don't know why it won't go all the way down the page; and right now I don't really care. I'm tired.

here are some new things - some new elements are feets on some pieces; I like the feets and I'm not sure about them at the same time.
I am also incorporating color and design on the surface as the earlier post of new pieces show; here are some more examples. There are things I do like about it and still feel it's a work in progress...

I have been obsessing over color - REALLY obsessing, but hey, artists do that sort of thing. if there ever was a place that captured color; it's India. It's virtually alive with color; I am in love with the aesthetic, the vibrant, saturated, unapologetic beauty of color found everywhere.
